Nutella Pecan Pie.

Recently, our church held a Chili & Pie contest. It was so much fun!

Would you believe I won 3rd AND 2nd place?! Crazy, right?! Who knew I could do that? lol!

I knew I wanted to enter 3 pies - a fruit, a creme & a nut. I also wanted to enter at least one unique pie, so I searched Pinterest & came across a few recipes for a Nuttella Pecan Pie!

It's simple, really. You take a traditional Pecan Pie & smother the bottom crust with Nutella.

Easy Peasy!

Silly me, I didn't take ANY photos when making the pies for the contest, so I've got nothing to share with you about the Apple Pie or the Mocha Creme Pie. BUT! I totally over bought nuts & had another single crust, so I'm whipping up the Nutella Pecan Pie for the hubbs.

This time, I remembered to take photos. Yay!

Now, this one didn't win any ribbons, but if you are in the mood for something sweet & nutty with a bit of chocolate bonus...this is the pie for you!

What you'll need:

1 Bottom Pie Crust. You can either buy one, or make your favorite recipe. I did the latter.
Nutella. Enough to cover the crust. I used somewhere between 1/4 & 1/2 cup.
1 Cup Light Corn Syryp
1 Cup Brown Sugar
1/4 tsp Salt
1/3 Cup Butter (Mmmmm...butter)
1 tsp Vanilla
3 Large Eggs - lightly beaten
1 heaping Cup Pecan Halves

Prepare your crust & place in pie plate.

Spread a layer of Nutella over the crust. If you can get it up the sides - go for it! I wasn't brave enough to try.

Melt the butter in a pan on low heat, or in the microwave.

Once the butter is melted, pour into a mixing bowl.

Add the Corn Syrup, Brown Sugar, Salt & vanilla into the bowl, and mix till smooth.

Add the Eggs & mix 'till thoroughly combined.

Stir in the nuts.

Once it's mixed well, pour into crust.

Cover with foil and Bake at 350 for 20 minutes. Remove foil, and return to the oven for at least 25 mins, or until set. (not overly jiggly in the middle)

**Side Note. Bake time been a problem for me & my wonky oven. This pie has taken me anywhere from 60 - 75 minutes to bake. Each time has been different for me, so I recommend watching it closely, and even putting the foil back on (if you have to cook longer than expected), so it doesn't burn.

This pie baked at 350 covered for 25 mins, uncovered for 25, and then covered again for another 10 minutes

Let me know how it turns out for you!

Thanks for stopping by!
